Thesis is done!

Some good news…I finished my thesis novel. From an idea hatched during the lull between Christmas and New Year’s, through a first draft, a rewrite, and a revision of the second draft, I turned in a 100,809-word manuscript on July 1st. Six long months, countless late nights that turned into early mornings, a filthy house, and lots of sacrificed bike rides…all in the name of a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing degree. And it was so worth it!

For those who don’t appreciate the word count, the average novel is around 80,000-words. My manuscript came out near 400-pages. It’s the longest document I’ve ever written, and I worked on some doozies when I was in the military.

If you’re wondering what it’s about, well, let’s just say it’s not in a KD DuBois genre. In fact, I will probably pursue publication of it under my real name. And when that happens, I’ll stop all the secrecy and connect my pen name to my real one. Don’t hold your breath, though.

The manuscript needs a couple more rounds of revision, a bunch of Beta Readers, and a final polishing round before I start querying agents. Then that process alone could take months to years.

Bottomline, it’s going to be a while before the person behind KD DuBois is revealed.

And in the meantime, I’ll start working on some new stories and editing some old. The rest of the Immortal Dimension stories are clamoring to get out of my head!
